I picked up my P2K E6A/B with DCC and QSI sound from the LHS. This is
a fine model… looks, runs and sounds great. The sound system is everything
that I expected from QSI and the performance is typical of P2K. The only flaw
I have found is the lack of close coupling, which surprised me because the
FA1/FB1 that I have from P2K has close coupling. No big deal really, though
it would be nice.
I have put it through it’s break-in routine and now it’s ready for service. Here’s
a couple of pictures. Dave

Looks really nice Dave the layout, scenery and those Southern E’s That is a little susprising about the close coupling it is a very nice feature that i find very realistic on the my Fa’s also. Again looks nice hope you get many hours of enjoyment from them. Terry
Man those look good!! I have an E6A in RI paint (you’ve probably heard me talk about it in the coffee shop) The sound is great, and they have pretty impressive power too. The one thing nice about the couplers is that they will handle a very tight radius, even with long cars, they don’t ever complain. The only problem I’ve had with mine is if for some reason the track ends up shorted, when the track power blinks it loses its mind and starts making long air let-offs as if it’s snoring[zzz]. Little strange, but turn the track power off then back on and it resets so it is just like normal again.
Congratulations! I know you enjoy sound very much like I do so I’m very happy for you. It’s really neat to have the quality sound from BLI combined with the detailing of Proto. Hard to beat!
Cspmo is right on with the coupler conversion. Pretty easy.
Question: Do the doors of your E-Unit open? An LHS dealer told me that LifeLike was discontinuing that feature, but it was uncertain if it was just on the hood units or all locomotives.
Do these E6’s take an 18" radius? I know that’s tight, but I was hoping since they dont’ have the close coupling that they might be able to. I’ve been wanting a set, but I’m finding it hard to get 22" everywhere in my layout ( I don’t have room for larger than 22")
Thanks everyone,
I’m glad you like it… I know I do!
Chewie: I’m not sure about the 18" radius. I have 30" radius curves, so I can’t say. It has
six wheel trucks so 18" might be a little tight. I would email LifeLike. Maybe they could tell
you.
Antonio: The only door that opens on the A unit is the rear door (at the diapham). On the B unit
(dummy) they all open, but are spring loaded to stay shut. Doesn’t make a lot of sense really.
cspmo: I will look into the Kadee conversion. Thanks
Greg: Mine shorted a couple of times at first, but hasn’t done it lately. Don’t know why.
