I have a Paasche “H” series airbrush and i recently switched from a Badger to this brand. I am having difficulty finding info about which aircap and color adjusting part to use for properly thinned Floquil(solvent and water based) and Scalecoat II paints as i want to paint some rolling stock and do it right the first time. Have had no luck finding the right infomation[banghead]. Anyone have any info about this? Thanks much.
The H has 3 different tips. 1,3 and 5. I believe 1 is the finest pattern and 5 is the broadest. Other than that , there’s not much to it. The tips should all work fine for any paint if it’s properly thinned. I’ve heard it’s hard to paint with some of the cheap craft paints using the #1 tip.
I use a Paasche and find the #3 tip suitable for just about any job, the #1 is very fine and is more for detail work (ie; weathering), the #5 is more suited to larger scales like ‘G’.
Keep the tips clean and the Paasche will last a long time. mine is around 30+ years.

I’ve been using the Paasche H brushes for almost 45 years and they are great. The last 30 years I have been using them at work and have got 6 as of now. I will stop at that since I retired in Feb. I always test the mix before I try it on a model. I use a white paper wipe all or a blue for white paint. I spray on the wipe all and adjust as needed. I’ll also be able to tell if the paint needs tobe thinned more. I’ve also used a white paper or card board. Definately keep the tips clean. Usually I run some soapy water or solvent through them for a quick clean and disamsemble for storage.
