What was neglected from the article is that the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo operates tourist trains to, but not currently across, the Mexican border. See: PSRM.org A nice gem deep in the southwest with many interesting artifacts (large ones - locomotives). Highly recommend the Cab Ride - well worth it!
When the trains drop into Mexico all the good stuff will be gone before the train resurfaces in United States. Its better of as tourist railroad.
The line doesn’t drop down into Mexico east of Coyote Wells.
