Paducah & Louisville acquires AC power

The story of the purchase by P&L of used AC power from CSX has shown up a couple of times in the TRAINSNewswire and another one on this date; referencing the repainting of the former CSX units.

FTA:“…PADUCAH, Ky. – The Paducah & Louisville Railway acquired more locomotives earlier this year and has begun repainting them in preparation for service on the western Kentucky short line. The company acquired 16 EMD SD70MACs from CSX, which were constructed in the late 1990s. The 16 locomotives purchased are CSXT Nos. 4501-4506, 4510-4512, 4516-4520, 4522, and 4523…”

Four River Transportation changed i’ts name recently ( last year sometime) It is now P&L Tansporttaion with P&L EVWR and A&O under it’s belt.

From what the Co president has said CSX says out of most of the business of running the roads.

All are dispatched from here in Paducah at their new headquarters.

during summer time I was told that the A&O only operates at night because the heat causes issue with the rails on the grades.
