Does anyone know of a testors or modelmasters paint that matches the colors for the NYC base color or stripes color? Or if you know of a good match with other paints let me know.
Testers does NOT make NYC grays. You would have to get Floquil or Scalecoat 2 made for plastic.
Badger ModelFlex line also has a pair of New York Central greys (asuming you can find the paint). There are variations between these shades (Floquil, PolyScale, Badger, ScaleCoatII) and the colors used on most commercial models. There are also variations in the paint used on the real locomotives. The Morning Sun books and several other reference sources have pictures of NYC equipment where the shade differences are very noticeable. If you are trying to match a specific piece of equipment, you may need to custom mix for a closer match.
