Hello,

Anyone has ever painted the Athearn RTR P42 as new VIA Renaissance locos? The decal set from Microscale is 87-1153.

Help would be much appreciated!

I havent seen the P42 in this colour scheme it would have to be something special to soften the lines of the loco.Is there a photo?

Athearn produced a small run of the P42 VIA loco. I have one and it sure does look nice.

Thare e photos of P42 #908 are very good and this paint scheme improves this locos lines though personally I think that Canada should be above the yellow line and not below as it would soon be obscured by weathering from the lead truck.

VIA keeps them very clean, its not very often you ever see a dirty VIA locomotive or passenger car.

I have seen the paint at the hobby stores don,t know the number but it is around.rambo1…

This paint is not the correct shading , it matches the older pre-P42 colouring of the F40’s, so it will be too blue, unfortunatly a custom mix would need to be made up as there is a definate greening of the main body colour to a teal/blue rather than a solid dark VIA blue.I don’t know if modern VIA colour set for the new equipment has been released yet.
