Paint Stripping

Hello fellow forum Readers I’ve been wanting to do some painting(airbrushing)on a few Locomotives i rexently purchased.i need to know what is the safest way to remove factory paint from a p2k Life-Like engine and also a atlas engine?

91% isoprol rubbing alcohol will take the P2K paint off. Just get a tupperware container with a lid, toss in the disassembled shell, let soak for a little while and start attacking with a toothbrush. The paint will flake right off with minimal effort. I’ve found round wooden toothpics work well for getting into step wells and other crevices pretty well.

Hope this helps!

Kelley.

Depends on which one, and where it was produced.

One made in Japan, is by Kato; straight PineSol.

One made in Austria, is by Roco; one of the commercial strippers. Do NOT use PineSol on these.

One made in China: I would start with the 91% isopropyl alcohol (IPA).
