Paint

What is your favorite paint mineral base or water base
do you air brush or do you brush paint.
I know it has a lot to do with what your painting, but in genreal what do you like to use.

I airbrush with acrylics - usually Polly Scale, with ModelFlex, Testors and Tamiya as needed to match colours.

I’ve become a big fan of acrylic paints - they’re a far cry from Pactra and Polly S “way back when”. They go on easy, clean up easy, and dry fast. Love 'em!

With the exception of “Metalizing” I’ve switched to acrylics! Definetly the way to go for painting locomotives and rolling stock!

For metalizing with Alclad, I prefer to use a “High Gloss” solvent based finish like Scale Coat II as the foundation coat for the Alclad.

I like to use an air brush and paint with a brush…POLY S paints, and Floquil paints are my favorites, but I also use those cheap acrylic paints that you get at wall-mart and hobby lobby in the small round plastic bottles (ceremicoat and delta coat paints I believe) which work just fine…once in awhile, i’ll use testors for small jobs with a brush…

Acrylics and me don’t seem to get along, so for the most part, I use Floquil or Testors Modelmaster paints.
I absolutley loved Accu-Paint (Acetone based) by SMP, but they are no longer available[:(]

I use Floquil for airbrushing and Polly scale for brush painting. I’ve been using Floquil for many, many years ( I admit it, I’m a dinosaur) and am very familiar and comfortable with it.
Have Fun,

I only brush and use both acrylics and oil based. I love Floquil and poly scale.

I brush AND airbrush. I use Polly Scale, Floquil, Testors Modelmaster, and Badger Modelflex paints using both methods with pleasant results, although I’ve never had good luck airbrushing Tamiya paints, I do brush paint with them.
