Painting buildingblocks

Anyone experience with painting stones on houses in the 1:32 scale.
Using natural materials like stone dust.

What your asking about sounds like a product I saw at a doll house (miniatures) store.
So don’t be shy, if you have such a store in your area… stop in, look around. I have found several things that could be used on our layout.

Sometimes people worry too much about the texture of the finish, when they should be interested in overall appearance. Remember that the effect you want to see 1 foot away from a 1:32 model is what you see standing 32 feet away from the prototype. You don’t see grains of sand at that range, what you do see is the colour (that’s how we spell it in Aussieland) and whether it is gloss or flat or somewhere in between. My experience with texture and colour suggests that the exact prototype colours are not what you want as you may find slightly lighter or darker colours are needed to get the effect you desire. Never are we able to set our models in the same lighting as the original even on an outdoor layout. My mentor in this modelled HOn2 and always proclaimed he was a true “2 foot modeller”, if he couldn’t see it from 2 feet away he didn’t model that detail and he is a MMR.
