Painting Cab1 for daughter any suggestions??

Hello everybody!

I am painting a Lionel PRR mikado jr w/tmcc & a caboose, girls pink for my youngest 5th b-day. We run conv/tmcc so I was thinking why not get another cab 1 and paint it pink so she knows which one is her’s and its easier to find, because she and her brother both lay it down around the layout as they are operating trains!( then I could paint my sons his color and mine another color!)

Has anyone done this? Any problems taking it apart? Is there any parts or tricks to the cab1?

Thanks again for all the great ideas on here!

Justin,

They can be a bear to take apart and get back together, and still work [banghead].

How about a different approach.

Do the kids have favorite characters, Disney/Pokemon/etc, find some stickers that could be applied to the backs and sides. If any of the “fast food” joints or auto parts houses have antennae toppers:

these could also be used. For these I suggest that the antennae be kept to a relatively short extension.

Thanks for the ideas! my daughter loves cinderalla stickers , may I will just cover it with some from Hobby lobby, GREAT IDEA!

thanks again!

Glad you liked it.

If there is a Michael’s, crafts store, in your area they carry a ton of different types and variety of stickers.

Stickers are probably an easier and a better option. You can get the unit apart down to removal of the red knob which I’ve never gotten off (there are six screws on the back of the unit). You would then have to mask the knob and the lettering on the top half of the unit. That’s a lot of work[%-)]
