Painting cast resin vehicles

Is there a process I have to follow to prepare cast resin for painting ???

Wash well in hot soapy water to get finger prints, oil, grease, and mold parting compound off. Scrub with an retired toothbrush. Rinse well. Don’t touch with bare hands after cleaning. Dry thoroughly. I then apply a coat of auto primer from a rattle can. Allow to dry and apply finish coats. I don’t brush paint, 'cause I always get brush marks in the finish.

I wish people would stop recommending the use of “old” used toothbrushes. They are lots of bacteria left in a used toothbrush, ask a dentist. I think we can all afford to buy brand new 5-for-a-buck toothbrushes at a Dollar store.

Dawn, with it’s grease cutting formula, is a good detergent for washing any model.

Oh my. Do the resin models get sick from this. [:-^]

Any bacteria which can withstand the repeated dunking in hot water and/or chameleon paint stripper than my “old toothbrush” has been through will probably, eventually conquer the World![(-D]
