I’m sure this has been covered before but would someone please tell me what I need to do to paint a resin cement bin I got at my LHS dirt cheap on sale. Is there special paint to be used, do I need to clean it up etc? Thanks in advance

Resin can be painted with any type of paint, it’s not affected by solvents. The most important thing with resin castings is washing them to get rid of the mold release. I do usually prime resin parts with some grey “shake the can” primer as the castings are often glossy and it’s easier to apply paint to a matte finish.
As Modelmaker51 said, Clean it good to remove any contaminants. Most resin casters do not use mold releases anymore as the newer silicone rubbers release real well, but you never know. I use automotive grey primer to prime all of my resin parts before painting. If posible the surface should be scuffed up to remove any “shiny” surfaces. This will help with paint adhesion.

Thanks for the help guys, I hope to get started this weekend. I’ve never worked with resin before this should be interesting and fun[:)]
Throwing away a toothbrush when it gets old and frazzled is to throw away a useful took for model railroading, particularly for cleaning resin kit parts and applying powered chalks for weathering.
