painting rust on rails

Hi,

I am about ready to add the rust to the sides of my HO rails. I am curious if anyone as tried the rail roller brush that was mentioned in Model Railroad? Here is the website:

Thanks,

Kevin

Never even knew it existed until now. Looks like an easy and a great way to get the job done!
Thanks for the info!
Ed

I wonder how it keeps from also painting the ties in between the 2 rails? As the roller goes around, certainly some residue must either drip or rub around the roller’s radius against (or over) the ties.

The proper paint brush can avoid this.

Hmmmm. I wonder if those little rollers puts the foundry and date info on too[:)]

I think you have to hire the little ironworker leprechaun with the special tools who lives in the forest behind the roller factory.

Seriously Kevin, check out Joe Fugate’s tutorial on rail painting. It is excellent.

I just put masking tape over the ties, hold a piece of cardboard behind the track and spray it with the appropriate color paint. Quick and easy.
