Painting stainles steel passenger cars

They at that point had only one coat of paint on them, put another coat on them today before the rain storm came through. Paint was still tacky after a couple hours of drying, hoping that is not going to be a probelm. The RPO is about 95% stripped now after soaking in castro super clean overnight.

Actually I’ve been experimenting with something I found at a local big box retailer. Valspar makes a metallic silver paint (will have to look at the exact color name when I get home from work) that is a VERY close match for the “Real Metal Finish” that Walthers uses on their passenger cars these days.

I did discover a down side to it…you absolutely CANNOT use a solvent-based clear coat on it…it turns it to a dull gray. [8o|][banghead]

Tryed to tape over the windows of the rpo, however it was still water leaking out of the inside even after 24 hours drying, so the tape would not stick to the windows. I think that model is cursed as i have had so many probelms with it.

Going to stick it out in the sun today to hopefully dry out the inside.

The paint on the other cars did dry after all just took a while. Should be getting the parts for them next week, i.e. seats, some train station parts for the underframes etc.

Been getting some work done on them, have to get one more set of seats for one of them, and some people to put in them. Have to get new air brush regulator before I spray paint them
