Packers#1, yesterday afternoon at 5:29PM moniker madbomber posted a topic titled weathering track; I would suggest that, if you are not running a game on the forum, you find it and look at it!
There is a search function in the bottom right corner of the screen. Every question you have asked has dozens and dozens of answers in the thread data base already. May I suggest you try that first before posting vague questions.
I just typed in “painting track” and got 8 different threads with 25 replies on the first page alone. I agree it’s not the best search engine and requires a little reading, but for basic newbie questions like he’s been asking it works fine.
You may want to re-phrase the way you ask your questions.Just remember this-some manners will get you a lot further than the way you are going about it right now. Try using PLEASE and THANK YOU.
Reading through the ton of stuff I get back from a search drives my dyslexia wild. Better to throw a question out there and take the shark bites that come along with the advice.
Answers to specific questions warrant a new thread if not found in a search. Though repetitive, no question posted by Packer#1 is wrong on it’s own. It’s the combination of random, vague, over discussed topics being posted one after another that is a little tiring. I think a few of us thought Mr. Packer was yanking our collective chain with his constant starting of new threads. My apologies to you Mr. Packer if you are truly interested in these subjects. You may benefit from not starting so many posts in a short period of time though.
I airbrush it and I used a towel to remove paint from the top of the rails before it dries. I have read that one could wait till it dries on the rails then use a bright boy to remove it.
I haven’t deceided if I am going to spray my rail or paint it with a brush. After reading how a lot of you paint your rails I’m still not sure. But I do have a question while we are on the topic- Is it easier or better to paint the rail before of after it is atttached to layout surface?Thanks-Bob
After. If you do it before, you’ll have to clean up any solder joints and rail connections you make. If you paint flex track and then lay it, the ties and spike heads move leaving little unpainted spots on the side of the rails that you will have to touch up.
