Hello, several years ago I was fortunate to be able to purchase from a railroad employee from the Palestine, Illinois, Illinois Central Railroad Sub, several file boxes from the 1920’s to early 1930’s of railroad documents. The documents contain all Illinois Central information that came out of the Palestine Offices (which was division point). The collection is quite extensive.
Geographically, the line extended from Newton, Illinois, to Robinson, then onto Palestine, crossed the Wabash River into Indiana, then onto Sullivan, Indiana, where the line eventually ended in Indianapolis. Today, the Indiana Railroad operates the line.
Now I have decided to consider selling the entire collection, but want to keep it together since it is truly a wealth of information. So if anyone has any interest, contact me and we can go from there. Truly, this is quite the wonderful collection of railroad history and it would make a great addition to any library or Illinois Central collector.
Thanks,
