Great looking layout.[:D] It must have taken you a long time to build. I noticed that you are just down the 22 from me in Orange. How did you find all that room to build in a Southern California house?
Bill
fantastic layout Bob, great overall shots, the scenic element looks great, your structures have been heavily commended before, (rightly so) any tips for us beginrs on your scenery techniques, are those trees bought or do you have a method for them?
Thanks for any response, and once again, excelent “work”
Bob, from an uprooted native Californian “Thanks For the Photos”. You have a fantastic layout and one that should be featured in any number of mags. Your’s is just as my wife and I envision our 1925 Northern Calif. mining layout.
Again great work and Thanks.
Nice work. Sort of reminds me of Allen’s work, which inspired me in the 60’s and still does. I like its business. I assume that operating sessions are just as fun. Being a bridge man, I really liked the trestle, and wish I could see it better, but as you know, portrait pics don’t seem to blow up on this forum. Look forward to seeing more.
Great work Bob! Thanks for sharing the pictures. You show a lot of good ideas and great modeling. Work like yours keep guys like me plugging away on our layouts!
i was starting to think you had the world’s most detailed 4x8 layout , these shots disprove my theory [:D] , and show you’ve done way more work than we even suspected
of course these photos raise more questions
what size is the layout room ?
how long has it taken to get to this point ?
do you consider it to be finished ?
do you have a computer generated or hand drawn trackplan you could post ?
thanks again , your work is inspirational (like so many others here!)
Very nice! It looks like you may have hand layed some of that track? In the river photo I see a rather large sweeping curved turnout on the right. Your textures and colors remind me of the Alturas and LonePine. It was a blast to run and watch.
Keep it up.
Are you a member of a club?
Bob thanks for showing us your layout. The detail you put into a scene is amazing. I agree with the above posts. You should be featured in MRR mag. You have the most realistic layout I have seen in the five years I have been putzing around with HO trains.

More specifically Bob, I seem to have trouble creating a realistic looking “dry/bare” earth look, your colouration and texture looks very natural and something I would strive to, any help gratefully recieved.
This is what it is all about ! All I can say is [bow]. I think I will print out some of these and hang in my train room. They will be an inspiration and a constant reminder of what is possible.
WOW, when you looks at thoose kinda pictures you forget it isnt real life. I can Only dream my layout will someday look that good. At the moment its a mess in progress
MR needs to call you for their next Great Model Railroads edition. Excellent looking layout. It doesn’t look like a model railroad, it looks like a miniature town with a train track running through. Very well balanced. The trains look like they belong there.
