Paragon 2 dcc locomotives

Does the paragon 2 DCC system motive part of the decoder work the same as say a TCS ax4 decoder? I am confused by the fact that the paragon can work on both DC or DCC. I am using a NCE pro cab system in HO. Would I program this engine like any other straight DCC engine with sound?

Yes, you program it just like any other DCC decoder.

Most modern decoders work in both DC and DCC. Just remember to turn off the DC functionality which is part of the basic programming with NCE. This will prevent the loco from taking off on it’s own. (another common DCC issue)

I have the PCM diesels and BLI diesels. Excellent runners. I use the NCE Power Cab at home and the NCE Power Pro at our club.
