Ok
Is it unusual for a shortline locomotive to be parked in a major railroads yard? The Maumee and Western the past couple of weekends have left one of there locomotives in the Hire rd yard(Csx) here in Defiance. To my knowledge there has been no trouble on the west side of town.any thoughts?

Maintenance maybe, beyond capability of own workforce?
Hi Joe.I was just wondering what sort of locomotives does the shortline use?Last time I was in Defiance a shortline had a pair of Alcos near the John Manville factory. Joe Goebel
Not knowing the operations of the shortline, it’s possible that the locomotive is laying over between delivering interchange to CSX and returning with cars routed to the shortline.
Chessie
that could be the case. instead of a csx crew taking cars to the interchange rail have the M&W crew take them themselves.

the engines the M&W has now are rebuilt gp 11s not alcos from illinois central and a rebuilt f-7 from santa fe.i have pictures if you wish.

There is a short line railroad that serves the Kane County area of IL and goes back and forth between Aurora and some of the Kane county hamlets, interchanging with BNSF at Eola yard in Aurora (can’t seem to remember the name of the railroad this early in the morning). Not unusual for their units to tie up for a while at Eola in the evenings before heading back home.
We here in Louisville, get a chance every once in awhile
to see foriegn road units on the P&L.
Aparently they have either gone,or have been to VMV in Paducah.
Although,I’ve heard that VMV filed for bankruptcy so I really don’t know
anything.Thats funney, thats what my wife tells me all the time!
