I am planning to model the D&RGW between Glenwood Spring and Pueblo (selectively), and would like answers to the following.
When did the current crushed rock operation at Parkdale start ?
What is the ruins half way between that site and the road bridge (Hwy 50) ?
Any idea what the plant was at Swissdale (Co Rd 55) ?
Both of these old sites can still be seen via Google Earth.
A big ASK, hope some-one knows the answers, THANKS in advance

The ruins you refer to are probably some old charcoal kilns. I’ve seen references to them in some videos about the D&RGW in that area.

I think the crushed rock operation at Parkdale started around 2000-2002. It was after the UP stopped operating the line as the rock company started their own short line called Rock & Rail to move the rock to Pueblo.

Now it is down to the facility closer to the road bridge. There were at least two tall concrete? silos there.
