KCC Engine Repair
05/22/2007

As many of you have heard, Davis Electronics, in Cincinnati, has recently decided to close its doors. The Davis family has been a longtime and valued Lionel dealer and, like many of you, we will miss them.

We’ve received a number of calls, asking who will handle KCC engine repairs, and I’m pleased to announce that Bob Brasseur of Brasseur Electric Trains, Saginaw, Michigan, has agreed to step in and handle any service or repair issues you may have with the K-Line product.

In short order, he will be contacting those of you who sent in their engines and will let you know when work will be completed. He has also expressed an interest in performing service repairs on old K-Line products as well, subject to parts availability.

Hope this news allays any concerns you might have, and we thank Bob for his efforts to get these engines repaired quickly.

P-04 Pantograph for 520 Electric No Spring $5.00 Order
Thanks for the help.I;ll check it out!

I think the pantograph for the 520 is not the same thing. Mine - a replacement also - is plastic and not so springy. Hey, I just posted a photo of it inadvertently in the Sunday Photo Thread. You have a pantograph that is more like the ones on the Williams GG1 with real springs.

philo426,

I admit that I know squat about K-line in general and their interurbans in particular, but I thought the question was about a single missing “insulator” for a pantograph. If the insulator in question is similar to the pantographs on Lionel electrics (such as the GG1) it may be available as a separate part. In my experience they come in both black and white versions. You may have to buy 4, but you shouldn’t have to buy a whole new pantograph.

If you have actually had the missing insulator in your possession, you might do well to really search for it. Hint: it will be in the last place you look. [:)]

The “insulators” that I think you are talking about act as feet for the pantographs (in Lionel equipment, at least) and are supposed to “give” so that the pantographs can pop off undamaged when the loco unexpectedly encounters a low bridge, tunnel, derailment, or dangerous 4-year old. If you can’t find the original, in the box or packing material, try Brasseur as suggested by several folks above. Be patient – they are doubtless still unpacking the huge supply of K-Line parts they “inherited”.

If I have mis-identified the part in question, let’s clear that up before trying to move on.

Yes Skinner you pegged it!I suppose I could make an RTV mold of one of the 3 remaining ones and resin cast a replacement but I ran out of RTV and it is expensive!Oh well I guess I’ll wait until he unpacks his K-line replacement parts and hope for the best!
