Does anyone know the correct part number for 616 flying Yankee prewar motor brushes? I tried an I 92 and it seemed very loose and was arcing. Getting hot also.
No one’s ever replaced brushes on a 616 pre-war??
Probably anyone who has, hasn’t been online lately, and nobody wants to give you incorrect advice or isn’t sure what to say. Maybe consider checking if your brush holders are holding the brushes properly (freely moving up and down in the tubes, but minimal side-to-side play) and if the brush springs are holding suitable tension. It wouldn’t hurt to swap in some new springs probably, and that’s one potential cause crossed off the list.
I haven’t worked with one of these units before, I’m just speaking from my experience with the toy train motors I’ve worked on in general.
Hope you can find the source of your troubles
