parts needed

Anyone have an old athern kit they want to part out? i am looking for a floorboard for a Santa fe standard pullman athern kit #1861, the one i have in my kit has the weight holes over sized and the weights will not stay in place, so if you have one you might want to part out please let me know.

thanks

Since the weights are screwed to the floor, use a small washer to keep the head of the screw from pulling through the weight.

George–

Actually, that car should have come with washers–every Athearn passenger car I have has extra-large holes on the weights, and they usually supply washers to keep the weights in place when you screw them to the floor. Kadee fibre washers should work okay. One package of them has about 80 washers. If worse comes to worse, a dab of gap-filling CA between the floor and the weight will work, also. The CA doesn’t damage the plastic.

Good News

I was finally able to get in touch with Lorie at Athearn, and they are going to send me the replacement parts I need.

Thanks to all who responded to my need for help

George.

WHY WERE POSTS DELETEd FROM THIS THREAD!??

While the OP has apologized for his tirade in this thread, it is still an important post that shows how the OP responds to certain comments. This could be especially relevant when the OP as other questions in the future.

This is not meant to be negative towards the OP, but deleting threads is like re-writing history and destroying evidence. There were other posts that were deleted that shouldn’t have been and not just in this thread but across the forum. What’s the deal?

JKTrains,

Anything and everyting that needed to be said in regards to your issue was addressed in OTM’s apology thread. I admit, I missed the hub-bub but personally could care less. If stuff was deleted, it was most likely done by some moderator in attempt to keep the forum drama free and keeping the good content up. Let’s help keep it that way.

Jerry,

I checked the Deleted Posts folder. Other than a post by orangetrainman (which only contained the quote by twhite above), no posts were deleted from this thread.

Tom,

Thanks for looking. Then it must have been a whole thread that was deleted, one in which we complained about not get a response from Athern (as he spelled) and wondered if they were still in business. A few responders politely pointed out that he had misspelled Athearn and wondered if his emails had been mis directed because of the misspelling. His response was a tirade, of which he has explained and apologized for. Others then told him to ‘chill out’. Now the thread or the posts are gone, just like some other posts have been disappearring.

jktrains

Jerry,

That particular thread you are referring to was deleted. The reason for the deletion:

  1. George’s response to the “misspelling” was deleted
  2. The thread became very “fractured” after the deletion - particular the other posts that were/would need to be deleted - and would be difficult to follow.
  3. George’s question had been sufficiently answered
For those reasons it didn’t make sense to keep the thread up on the forum any longer. George was sent an explanation along with the deletion of the thread.

Tom

FWIW, I want to thank the moderators for deleting threads and/or posts that just serve to create chaos, belittle others and start riots. I have made posts in anger or disgust that I later regretted and happily the mods cleaned up my mess for me. [:)]

Besides that, this is Model Railroaders forum. It does not belong to the members. The moderators serve Model Railroaders interests, not ours. If you don’t like what the moderators are doing you are free to exercise your right to leave and not come back. Otherwise play by the rules and quit griping about the mods doing their jobs. They have enough to deal with without being called to task over simply doing their jobs well. [8D]

Keep up the good work guys! [tup] [:)]
