Passenger cars moving by truck

I just got a call from a friend wondering if I knew anything about alot of passenger cars being moved by truck. He saw four while he was on the phone with me today. Said he has been seeing them for a few days now. They are in north central PA, and appear to be headed somewhere north, maybe NY?

Can anyboby help me with some information?

Thanks, Don

Are these new or used? The issues with moving out-of-complience equipment means that truck or flat car is the only way to move older stuff.

What type of cars are these? A few years back, I was regularly seeing subway cars form New York City on flatbed trucks travelling Interstate 80 into Pennsylvania. The eastbound ones were freshly refurbished and the westbound ones really needed it.

Were there passengers in them???

Perhaps it’s Amtrak’s solution to the problem of poor treatment by the railroads…

So instead of blaming UP for delays, they will now blame UPS !!!

We sort of determined that they were passenger cars vs subway cars. He isn’t knowledgible on these topics, that’s why he called me. I’m not up speed on the passenger side of things. So I figured I would try here. He said they seem to be traveling in groups also.

And yes, I thought about Amtrak’s “new route” too!!

What railroad name was the cars???
