Passenger rail coming to Central PA?

Anyone from the central PA region has probably heard of Corridor One, the effort to bring rail service to Harrisburg, Lancaster and other local communities. For those that care, The Patriot News recently had an article updating the status of the effort. If you note, it says the service may eventually link Corridor One and Two trains to SEPTA in the Philly region. There’s been a big debate locally over whether the region really needs the service and the cost that comes with it. We are not an overly densly populated area, but there are an inordinate number of people who commute from one semi-small town to another semi-small town, all over the region. most commuting to Harrisburg or Philly. Here’s the article… no sign-up should be necesssary. If anything, you may have to input a zip code, but no email sign-up.

…The passenger rail project presented in above post site is encouraging…The article in the paper even suggests it might happen. As a native Pennsylvanian I’m pleased to hear such news.

Yes I think we here in PA need this new central transit system. That’ll be nice. If some people haven’t heard SEPTA is in a major money crisis. They are thinking about cutting services, downsizeing employees, raising fares, and the thing that suprises me the most is that the plan on not haveing weekend service on it’s routes. That sux. I hope this won’t happend, but if it does we’ll need a nice central railroad to pick up on. Pluss the Three Rivers (Amtrak) hasn’t been doing to well w/ it’s runs to Altoona and such.

i frequently vacation in the Philly area and am glad to hear the good news.

I’m vague about the routesthe new line hooking up with Septa will take.

Will it by chance go via Birdsboro,Pa. Can you enlighten me on the routing?
