Paying for Trains with Paypal!!

I am new to selling trains on ebay and using Paypal. I was wondering if anyone in here is good at it?? If they can help me with something. I sold an item on ebay and I know ebay only accepts Paypal as payment. My buyer wants to pay by using the instant payment method. How do I setup my account to accept an instant payment?? Does the buyer have to have a credit card and use that credit card to send an instant payment?? If you can help, that will be great, just trying to find some answers. Thanks.

Go to www.paypal.com … it’s the best and quickest way to get paid . I will only use paypal … even on the internet to buy because you never have to show your credit card or bank number . Yes the seller will have to have either a bank account with money in it … or a bank account with a debit card or a credit card . It’s fast and easy to get setup !

Sounds to me he’s hesitant to set up a pay pal account which is pretty simple if he already has a credit or bank card. It’s really easy. If pay pal was the only payment form in your auction, he’s oblgated to sign up with pay pal when he bid.Otherwise, you need some method of taking credit card payments or some sort of method of taking routing numbers off his checking account. I haven’t been following up on the new payment rules as pay pal is the only form I have been using for quite some time.

I get emails occasionally from sellers with “please call this number for credit card payment”. Bullcrap. Pay pal is what you listed in your auction, pay pal is what you get. If they weren’t a stranger, I would react differently.

Ok, now if I was to accept an echeck as payment. How does that work? How long does it take to clear my bank or get into my Paypal account balance? Once the money is in my Paypal account balance, it is my money, correct? Or do I have to transfer the money into my bank’s checking account in order for the money to be officially mine?? Thanks.

lionel2,

My wife and I use Pay-Pal, because it’s another protection, besides E-bay, not only for us buyers, but also for the sellers.

And, if all goes wrong the buyers have that double protection in returning items and getting reimbursed, as well, as the sellers are protected in their sale. Feedback is mighty!

No one fools with your account, because either E-bay, or Pay-Pal notifies all involved before a seeming problem arises. And both agencies check throughout the sale that all goes right and all are satisfied. Don’t forget their reputation is also on the line.

I wish these, big money making, banks would do that, without charging hefty fees for this type of security protection, for the little man!

If you have a pending Echeck that means that the buyer had no money in his Paypal account and his account is NOT connected to a credit card like it is supposed to be. It can take 5 or more days to show up in your account. Yes, once it shows up in your account its yours. You can then either spend it on Ebay for somthing, or transfer it to your bank account. By the way, you do NOT have to pay for something on Ebay with Paypal only! I accept money orders frequently as do many others. Ebay has NO way of knowing how they paid as there are millions of people on Ebay. Too many to watch them all.

Well, I tried to include in my auctions that I accept money orders, but, ebay picked up the words: money order and said I had to relist my items because I cannot ask for money orders as payment. So I had to relist. I just wanna be honest and yes their fees are too much. The echeck says uncleared. I seen other people that sell trains on ebay and they have the words money order and they dont get caught or have to relist. Why me? They will do anything to make money. Oh well. Thanks.

The greedy bastards at Ebay just want more money. You can put " I can accept other methods of payment, email for options." I hope something new comes along soon. Ebay is way too expensive now.

Money orders and even cashiers checks can be forged. My local bank had a customer sell a vehicle and accepted a cashiers check. He signed over title before the checked cleared. He was out his vehicle and still owed the bank the balance of the note.

I only use PayPay for internet purchases. It is safe and doesn’t cost me anything as a buyer. I DO NOT have paypal take money directly from my bank account. It only uses my Visa card.

As others have mentioned, it is quick and easy to open a PayPal account. You can get approved to accept over $10,000 as PayPal payment. I did that a year ago to sell a vehicle, unfortunately, my reserve was not met.

For smaller sales/purchases credit cards without PayPal would be okay, but, personaly, I wouldn’t accept money orders or checks because of the slow down in shipping times waiting for clearance.
