Hello everyone, have (2) rail yard models X79 60’ Thrall box cars to paint.like to do one for PC & one for kellogg’s heavily weathered.just did (2) X-72’s air erased, detailed,& painted old proto 1000 & life-like cars respectfully.used polly scale PC green, but looking at exactrail, proto 1000,that are very close in color the PS looks like a fade.my question is,anyone know what paint mix would be nearest to PENN CENTRAL green. thanks in advance dennis
Go to the PC Historical Society Website, they had Scalecoat mix up some 5 gallon pails of PC Green and they sell both the Scalecoat I and Scalecoat II in PC Green.
Here is my X79 Painted with Scalecoat PC Green ( I purchased 5 bottles after Scalecoat discontinued the color from various Hobby Shops around the country while I had a job traveling around the country.)

Keep in mind green and blue tend to fade pretty quickly, so unless you’re modelling a recently repainted car a lighter shade might look more correct. I know the old Minneapolis Northfield and Southern engines I used to see were like blue jeans - they started out dark navy blue but faded to kind of a royal blue over time.
