I just ordered my first Articulated loco yesterday. Every since I had my neighbors Big Boy on my layout in the keys I have been hankering for one. I really wanted a Challenger but I didn’t feel there were any quality Models out there to choose from. Anyone have experience with this loco or PCM in general? I have several BLI loco’s and am very happy with them so I am gambling this one will be all it seems to be. For the price it aught to sing me to sleep everynight. I’ll post pics and vids as soon as I get it up and running. Terry
I have one of the PCM Y6b’s and like it very much. The headlight is a dim orange but I replaced the SMT with a bright white one and that really makes a difference. It runs very well and is heavy without traction tires. The whistle is the N&W hooter and the chuffs are good while the speed is below 15MPH or so, but at higher speeds, the chuffs do not blend well. The Y6b’s normally worked at speeds well below fifty and provided helper service to the A’s so the chuff sound is not a big distraction. They have included a function to change from simple to compound, but that function does not do much for the chuffs.
Overall, it is a great engine and you should enjoy it.
CAZEPHYR - Tks for the encouraging info. I will probably get Flogged in public for this but this loco will be working for the NYC on my layout. And I like slow to moderate speed so the chuff should be just fine. Terry
Congratulations. You will love the loco. Articulateds are very nice.
Terry!
[:O] You are NO longer allowed to play with the rest of the boys and girls until you can learn to behave! What am I supposed to tell the Historical club?!?..[swg]
Tom
Don’t listen to him Terry! Be creative. [:D]
Hey, if the Pennsy could buy some…maybe you should letter it in Penn Central! [}:)]
Tom - Well I guess I will just go to my room and PLAY WITH MY Y6B all by myself. I ran across a NYC pic website the other day with a section on Fantasy Railroads and he had a pic of a Challenger decked out in NYC. It looked really neat and if I hadn’t known better I would have thought it was for real. Any news on the FT’s? Terry
I like the sound of that! My birthday is Sunday (For real 49 fears ago) does that mean I get one too?
YYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO can’t wait til Sunday. Mike
Hi Terry.
Can my Big Boy come up and play with your 2-8-8-2? got the decoder hooked up and it’s working fine in my new Shay.

Terry ENJOY IT! I have a Big boy with CNJ markings and A Cab Forward with Reading Markings. I am rebuidling an old AHM Y6b to DCC standatds and will robably letter it as CNJ also.
Throw in (3) Jsa Husdon with NYC and run them on CNJ tracks in the Pa area working cola trains and log trains. A rivert counters night mare but it is FUN!!!

Welcome aboard Dick. Glad your Shay is sounding good. Obviously you got your DCC system up and running as well. And to all the others who replied thanks. It shipped friday so hopefully I will get it before turkey day. Even though my b-day is next month I plan on testing it out as soon as I get my hands on it. Terry
