Has anyone had to change a traction tire on the Polar Express engine yet? Is it difficult to do? As always, many thanks.
Some have reported breaking off the side rod screws/heads while trying to remove them(the screws) requiring replacement of the rear/geared wheelsets.
Just take it easy and pay close attention to what’s going on. Maybe if you remove the entire wheelset assembly(all 4 axles & eight bearings/bushings- they just drop out the bottom when you take the retainer plate off) as a unit with the rods, you can get some heat on the back side of the rear drivers to assist in getting them out.
