I am using Peco Insulfrog turnouts and want to use Peco’s PL-10 swich machine. I need advice on install. Do I need to drill a hole in the switch arm? It doesn’t appear that the turnout is “PL-10 ready”.
I forgot to mention that I am modeling in N-Scale. Thanks.
I’m using N scale Peco c55 electrofrogs, but I believe that they’re similar to yours.
The PL10 gets mounted off center and you can use either of the holes at the end of the throwbar.
Hope this helps.
There should be a small round hole at each end of the strip that joins the moveable points together, just inbord of the little bumps that stick up at the very ends. The pin from the actuator goes into one of these holes. There should also be two long ties that stick out past the rails on both sides with square holes in them. This is what the actuator fastens to. It’s hard to imagine that Peco would let turnouts without the holes get past quality control, but if this is the case, I’d return them for exchange rather than try to drill a hole for the actuator pin. If it’s the square mounting holes that are missing, it would be inpossible to make them.
