does anyone have any of the New Peco Code 83 switches. i was thinking about doing my layout with them. use the reamingin atlas ones but do the rest in the Peco ones[?]
I have just finished installing several of these code 83 Peco turnouts. I will eventually replace all 26 of my Atlas code 83 with pce switches. The operate so much better than the Atlas turnouts. The fact that the points are spring loaded is a HUGE help and improvement over Atlas as this is where 90% of my derailment problems came from.
That is a little funny because at the club I belong to we have been taking the springs out so they work better with the slow motion switch motors.
I am about ready to go all pecos on mine. The Atlas switches are ok, but they dont last.
Peco turnouts besides working better, look better - more realistic!

I don’t know what problems Atlas Code 83 is causing, but I’ve used them for years with Caboose Industry ground throws and they work flawless and I’ve never had any problems with them at all.
As long as you take the time to carefully install them and mount the ground throw they should be pretty much trouble free.
Another plus is the cost!!!
Good luck,

I’m not having problems with my Atlas ones. I have serveral areas that the switches have to be set a certain way or lots of big problems happen
Kind of sounds like the old Ford-Chevy debate to me.(or Mac-PC)
