Peco turnout switch motor wiring

Hi again.
Question regarding the wiring of a PL10 in conjuction with a PL13 accessory switch. For the PL13 , the one lead calls for it to be wired to the common, is this the same common as the PL10 which is to be wired to the negative? The other two contacts are for the led’s.
Also I’m going to be using some momentary switches to activate, do I require normally open or normally closed, not sure what the differance is?

I wish I was a bit more elecronically inclined. [:)]

It can be, if all your power supplies connect to the same common somewhere. But it doesn’t have to be - you can keep the LED circuit totally isolated from the switch machine power. I would recommend this way (seperate commons, keep it isolated) for someone who doesn’t have a complete understanding of the principles involved. If you keep EVERYTHING seperated (track power, switch machine power, signal power), it will definitely work. If you share commons and don’t get it exactly right, it won’t work.
