Peco VS. Atlas the difference

I am looking to replace my 100 code HO scale Atlas Custom Line # 6 switches with Peco 100 code switches I also have a few Atlas #4 switches. What size PECO switch should I use to replace both the Atlas #4 and #6 switches . Peco does not use any numbers in the description of their switches that I can see, how do I determine which switch to order?

The peco medium is like a 5 or so(maybe smaller?) and the large is like an 8 or so. Don’t forget the Peco are power routing NOT like Atlas. You can easily place the Peco over the Atlas with the frog as the center point and determine how they actually differ. The peco also have a difference in their points.

Peco turnouts are not the same length as Atlas, and the degree of divergence is not the same, so you’re going to need to change more than just the turnout.

Peco code 100 Insulfrog/Electrofrog turnouts are about a 12 degree angle of crossing. Here is a link to a chart:

The Atlas code 100 ‘Customline’ turnouts are 12.5 degrees for the #4 and 9.5 degrees for the #6. They are not an exact match or ‘drop in’ replacement…

Thank’s for the replies, that answers my questions, I was hoping I could just pop in the PECO and take out the Atlas. I’ll now have to give this some thought as to what I want to do. Once again, Thank You for taking the time to reply to my question.

I have replaced Atlas turnouts with Peco turnouts. The size of the footprint is the big difference, with the Peco turnout being shorter than the Atlas turnout. I have held one over the other and if the divergent track angles are not identical, they are pretty close. After replacing the Atlas with the Peco, the only remaining issue to replace the adjoining piece of track with a longer piece since the Peco is shorter than the Atlas.
