Have any of you read the 2008 railroading novel by Howard Bahr entited, Pelican Road? I’ve just “discovered” it, after having read his other historical fiction. Want to save this book, for aboard-train reading material.
How did you like this book? Thanks in advance for your comments.
Did not read the afore mentioned book but just completed Clive Cusslers "THE WRECKER’. A great read, pure fiction but well researched. Super book for your next train ride.
I wrote a review of this book in this forum on 11-17-2008, under the title of “Railroad-based Novel”. There were a fair number of comments that followed. You can use the search box to retrieve that thread.
Thank you, “Beach Bill”. I shoulda known that you all would have commented on this book back when it was first published (2008). Thanks for directing me to your original thread, which had your great review (and a couple of other railroading recommendations by others). My paternal grandfather was with the ICRR Louisiana Division in MS during the time period of Pelican Road, so this will be a good read.
Obviously, literate as you (and others) are, I am sure that you know of other RR fiction, to wit: The Boomer, The Christmas Train, and Whispering Smith.
