Pelle Soeborg is da' man!

I was very impressed with Pelle Soeborg’s new layout featured in the March issue of MR. He is a true craftsman.

Pelle and Erik Brooman are my two favtorite modelers. Both of their work inspires me to press on with model railraoding.

Take care,

Yea, I got mine in the mail on Saturday and read the whole issue front to back in one day!

The Soeborg layout is great!

the pics showing the freight rollin down the road are spot on, i like the way he says he isn’t a detail freek, i wish my details were as good as his.
keep it up
your-da’ man.

I agree, I’m going to drive over there next week just to see the real thing.

What an artist.

Jon - Las Vegas

I agree, his layout rocks. I envy him for capturing the look of a real western desert town. Keep up the good work, Mr. Soeburg.

Wonder how many realize that he is from Sweden? Hard enough modeling North American stuff when you live here!

Bob Boudreau

I agree, and all I can say is WOW!!! He has one great layout, I really, really like it. Wish I could do scenery that good.

Noah

I would agree he’s definitely a great modeler but there’s too much armour yellow in the pics.[:D][:D] [B)] One of the best for sure.

Jeremy

I would agree with all of you. I just keep looking and looking and looking and still can’t seem to get enough of how he did all that. How many of us caught his little statement of “but when you look at a scene and it appears correct, then it’s enough.” when he was speaking about details. I was surprised that his roads brought out the railroad more than anything else. He is the man!

Pelle rocks! Would love to see him write some articles on the structures on his layout. It might rekindle the whole scratchbuilding thing!!

Close but not close enough, he is from Denmark, our southern neighbour. Although I havent received the March MR yet I have seen Sooeborgs layout almost one year ago in a swedish hobby magazine. Sooeborgs layout is a piece of art.

Yes I agree with you. And that is the reason I chose to model the west. To be honest most of you guys model the green grass and green tree look so when we see that western dry look it is quite a change and we love it. I did the green grss and green tree look so when I started my first big layout I decided to go west. Modeling Up also. So my layout has the similar look as that. When I see his layout I see mine. Although I do not have a Dennys or KFc I am just stuck with the Burger King. LOL Here is an example of the way mines look. Although mine is southern Cali and will have palm trees around the ground is alike.

Biggie,

I wrote a post on your thread about the B’King. You ought to get together with Pelle and write some articles on building modern structures. Guys like you and Pelle keep me hoping that I can improve my skills to something close to your levels!

Wasn’t his previous layout featured in Great MR’s a couple years ago?

That layout was similar to the descriptions I’ve read above - relatively sparse, yet very realistic. I believe he mentioned he was going to build a larger layout soon. This must be it.

I would feel the temperature rise just looking at his pics - made me feel like I was in Mojave.

In fact, I think I may have eaten at the McDonald’s that was on that layout. That guy has Southern California down!!!

Borders didn’t have the new MR yet. Argghh!

I’m getting nailed here! Went to a Borders, Barnes & Noble, and even the local Model Railroad shop.

Nobody has the new Mag yet. I’m very much looking forward to it!!!

When i first saw the cover, I thought oh no, another UP layout. Then I saw it and it was incredible! His structures are truly a work of art.
In the same issue, Howard Lloyd’s marine models are also fantastic. He captures equally well a seafront as Pelle captures the west.
Great issue.

Philnrunt,

I agree that Howard’s marine models are fantastic also!

This issue is probably the issue that I’ve enjoyed the most in the last few years (I didn’t say the greatest issue because everyone has their own opinion of that depending on where their interests lie).

I have to correct myself here - his previous layout was featured in MR, March 1998. (have the article scanned into my computer - went through my MR’s a few months ago, scanned in my favorites - this one was definately a keeper!)

I still haven’t gotten the new MR yet. No stores have it yet!

I agree too, Pelle’s modeling, photography, and writing is top-notch.

Pelle, if you’re out there, how is the Sweden USA model railroading scene?
