Penn Central ex-PRR F units with antenna

In a quick internet search I’m not finding any evidence of ex-pennsy F-units which retained antenna(e) after repainting. I suppose it makes sense if they changed (abandoned the PRR-style) communications systems post-merger. Here goes some modeling license… Thanks- Mike

i was on the southwest division at the time of the merger and i don’t recall any type of radio communications other that the standard FM system. i think the old train phone set up was long gone by then

i must qualify this by saying that i never saw any PRR covered wagons on the west end but a few NYC F units did show up once in a while and were common on the Cairo Div hauling coal.

i don’t know what they were doing back east at that time but, why should i know something they didn’t?

I started noticing the PRR F units in service in the late 60’s and the big cumbersome train antennas and stantions were gone. I know they were phased out before the PC merger. If you get a PRR book with loco photos, study the dates on the phtoos and that might give you some indication. I remember them running btw Grand Rapids, Michigan and Cincinatti, Ohio. The GR&I had the largest concentration of former PRR FP-7’s into the Penn Central era.
