Penn Lake Goes to War (and other project pics)

I completed several projects over the long Thanksgiving break…

Two M47 tanks on flatcars:

left, Tichy Train Group flat; right, Bowser flat

Some Jeeps on an Athearn car:

A couple tractors on a Tichy 40’ flat:

This is one of several MDC hoppers I painted for Penn Lake’s ore service:

And last, but not least, a shot of Penn Lake caboose #94018. It’s a P2K Northeastern caboose I stripped (they don’t seem to come undec

Nick, you need to post the pictures in WPF so more people can enjoy them!

The first run of the P2K Northeastern Cabooses came undecorated - They only released a single road number in Reading but I found 2 undecs on eBay to put my own numbers on. Every once in a while another one appears, but 4 is enough of that one class, I want a different one - I kepe trying to get one of the Eastern Car Works kits but they are really hard to find. The new P2K ones, they have 2 Reading numbers, but it’s green and yellow, and maybe no undecs this time.

I like the colors, but from what I’ve been told, DON’T put ore in that car. It will turn into a smiley face from all the weight bending the center of the car down. (Bad thing)

You could coat the bottom, but for Ore Serice, one can only use 1/5 of the space in that car safely. That’s why the shorties exist.

Randy, I have two of the cream and green Reading cabooses and love them. The last few runs didn’t come in undec.

Morgan, I have pics of similar Reading hoppers filled about half way. Not having the funds for shorties, displaced coal hoppers will have to do.

Nice. I like the tanks rolling by.
