Penn Lake RS3s Are Finished (Pics)

My long quest to complete my fleet of Penn Lake Railway RS3s is finally at it’s end (well almost). With the exception of the two passenger units that still need handrails and headlight lenses (because I thought I ordered them and apparently didn’t), everyone is detailed, painted, decaled, and DCCed.

I started with Atlas units and added typical Reading details. The freight units also got dynamic brakes.

I used a combination of Highball Graphics D&H and Champ private name decals to decorate the units. Both the Reading and D&H painted thier bells the same color as the frame. I paint mine brass so they stand out. Plus I just think brass bells are neat looking.

Penn Lake #4058 is representative of a typical dynamic brake equipped freight unit.

Nick.

Attaboys all around! I always liked the looks of a clean RS unit. I guess you can call me an Alcohaulick. [tup]

You have a very nice result to show for all that, Nick. Congratulations. [tup]

Crandell

Nicely done!

Thanks guys.

The last few parts arrived the other day and I finished the passenger units. Like Reading units, they are equipped with Custom Finishing shrouded steam generator stacks and Details West cab signal boxes. The bend in the hand rails is also a Reading trait.

Outstanding and well done. I miss working on my own Kiva Valley power. I had some fun working on modifying my own power with their quirks and outfitting them they I like. Your fleet looks great. Congrats on a project well done.

Swell job! [tup] [tup] two thumbs up, or two thumbs up [Y][Y]

That’s some real heavy snow you’ve got there! It’s covered all the tracks!
