what caused the 7002 and the 1223 to go cold i just wached a 1980’s vidio on tv with those two under steam [%-)]
Like all steam locomotives, they needed back shop work to continue running and that is big money. Steam really is expensive to overhaul and meet Federal mandates for boiler safety. I watched the7002 and 1223 excursion on the RFD channel recently and it was a once in a lifetime experience for the two to hit the mainline without a diesel in sight.
