I often see people figures in model railroad pics, Walthers flyers and other publications, that I cannot find anywhere. I am referring mostly to train crew figures, like trainman leaning on caboose or engine rails, hanging on stirrups, signaling, etc. I have checked all the Preiser, and other figures and cannot find active train crew, aside from the usual seated engineers and firemen. Anyone know any other sources for train crew figures in HO?
Woodland Scenics used to have very large displays of figures in hobby shops, including railroad people.
Preiser is not the only game in town.
Go to Walthers web site and do a Search under Figures.
Lots of manufacturers including Walthers putting out people figures including train crews.

Don’t limit yourself to “train crew” figures. Preiser’s “Truckers” set is frequently seen in photos, for example.
True, think, well not outside the box, but maybe along the edges - for example, the Presier unpainted uniformed figures set has plenty of raw material to create (among many other things) several figures in shirt sleeve and slacks/jeans as you would see (and I have seen in many images) working on many short-lines from the 1960s to, well now for tasks not requiring safety vests.
At this time I can’t really recommend Woodland Scenics figures, as the ones I see (and the one set I have) all seem to have a cartoonish look about them. This rather blows, as they do offer some really neat and useful figure sets, but which sadly are not really foreground quality.
If this helps. The guys in this set remind me of the railroad crews I used to see back in the 70s-80s.
Thanks for the replies. I’ll keep looking.
Weston fiqures and other metal fiqures.
Could you give us a few details, mostly what style clothing these figures were wearing?
Old fashioned, traditional railway-man overalls and cap? Flannel and jeans? post-1990 Safety Vests & baseball caps?
Also, did the figures in question look a bit “chunky” and less detailed (perhaps indicating metal figures) vs. more scale-like & detailed (like our friends Preiser, Merten et. al.)
