I remember seeing a chart or something that had the breakdown a railroads income divided among catagories such as coal, intermodel, chemicals, etc. I think it even had each of the class one’s. Does anybody know of a similar chart out there? Or even the raw numbers would be fine.
The easiest way to find that is to go to the website for each RR, then look for the “Investors” link. In that section, you’ll find their annual reports published in a PDF file. You’ll find text and possibly a pie graph that shows the break out. Alternately, you can look at their 10K filing, you’ll find it in the same section of their website. 10K’s tend to get more to the point, whereas the Annual Report has a lot of front-end fluff that they add to tell us about the great stuff they did this year and how remarkable smart the exec team is.
Here is the link for the UP RR 10K for the year ending 2005. The 2006 version won’t be posted probably until Feb or March. See Pg 4 of 91. It has exactly the pie chart of which you ask.
