Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had any info on the above? From the PM historical society site, it was on roster in 1944 and was taken off roster in 1958, built at Lima.
Just curious what it route(s) were, where was it’s home base, what year built, when scrapped, etc.
I assume it was one of the last steam locos built by Lima…
Thanks anyone.
A copy of the book ‘Pere Marquette Power’ published by the C&O Historical Society would serve you well. They resently reprinted the book.

1228 was the first of the N-2 class, 1228 to 1239. 1235 to 1239 were equiped with boosters while 1228 to 1234 were not.
I’m not sure about its home base, but the Berks plied the mainlines between Chicago and Detroit and Toledo and Saginaw. The other lines such as from Saginaw to Ludington were too lightly constructed for the Berkshires.
