Pere Marquette Railway

I am modeling the Pere Marquette Railway as it appeared in South -Western Ontario , Canada . Is anyone else modeling this railway in N.
Ian Maynard

I would like to see more of this railway.

Especially a caboose.

I have a Berkshire by AHM and would love to find a caboose for it.

Pleased to hear from you . Are you working on a P M layout ?
In the Pere Marquette Historical Society , the modeling editor is attempting to have produced an H - O caboose , to be followed by other scales including ‘N’ .
Last year in R M C , John Brown presented an article on kit - bashing an H - O caboose using two H - O models . The same caboose also appeared with the P M . In fact there was a picture of this caboose in the article . He was able to provide me with a manufacturer 's as built photo , and this was followed up by infomation of a Life - Like ‘N’ model that can be similarly kit - bashed !
The model, I have been able to collect for this is LIFE - LIKE #7988 Great Northern Caboose . It has four windows per side with a central cupola . As it takes two models to create one , you may have to search flea markets etc. for your supply .
C D S in Ontario Canada has transfers for various P M boxcars that with some modication could be used .
I have now a collection of P M boxcars , covered hoppers , gondolas and two bay hoppers . Most of these are Micro - Train undecorated cars , and Con - Cor gons , which have been painted and lettered with CDS transfers .
Hope this answers your question.

Hello from across the lake! I’m modelling the PM in the thumb of Michigan in HO. From Port Huron up through Port Hope. Too bad we don’t live closer (and the same scale) as we could exchange traffic. I’m also going to add the PH&D from Port Huron to Marine City. I’m using the St. Clair Tunnel, the ferry docks and the GT from Detroit as staging. from there trains enter the Port Huron yard and are classed for the Thumb or the PH&D. Hope to see some pictures of your layout.

Greetings,

No I am modeling the Great Northern/Northern Pacific in Montana. I only have one Pere Marquette Berkshire from Rivarossi that visits on occassion. Its a great locomotive and I have had it a very long time.

Great to here from other modelers interested in the Pere Marquette. I’m modeling the PM in Flint Mi around 1940 in HO. To bad you model N because theres so much available in HO. Ian, if you don’t already belong then it might be a good idea to join the Pere Marquette Historical Society. A good bunch of guys all interested in the same thing. Hope to see you on this side of the river some day.
