Personal logo - What Program??

I want to make a personal logo for the Sublime to Redikuls. I want decals for engines, rolling stock and buildings. It needs to be in multicolor and overlapping lettering and graphics. I need to design it large and reduce it to size. I have no idea how to do this. What programs will do it, how hard are they to learn and how much might they cost?

i have to say start with adobe photoshop and see where it take u, sort of hard to use but great results price cant remember

Try adobe illustrator, macromedia freehand, or photoshop like the suggestion above
You can get Cs2(illustrator ) for about $100.

Photoshop’s so blooming easy once you know it ! But then I do it as part of my artwork

Adobe Photoshop is your answer, well… Illustrator also. But prepare for a big learning curve that makes track planing software look like a childs book, though as mentioned earlier, once you get the basic concepts down, it’s easy as pie. You can get Photoshop Elements as low as $70 and the full blown edition for around $600 to $700. Surely though there is some program out there that will do what you want without going to tech school to learn the program… [8D]

I have used decal paper that you can buy in a hobby store specially made for inkjet printers. I use Microsoft Picture it! to make my decals because it’s very easy to use and i use a program called Irfanview to reduce them in size. you can download irfanview for free and free to use.

Paintshop Pro is a very powerful program for things like this, far cheaper and easier to use than Photoshop.

You can get it for $55 on ebay.

Note what it says in the auction:

“†This is an academic version of the software. The buyer should be a student or faculty member using the software to aid in the learning process. Proper documentation can be sent to the seller via email or fax to show proof.”

So if you aren’t a student you would be out of luck!

One of these days(okay, years from now when I have a good job and a little extra money), I’ve got to invest in one of these adobe illustrator or similar tools. Right now I created my logo for the ARK in paint, but being a one tone deal(all I want, cheaper to get decals made and many of the real railroads do it that way anyway), it looks fairly good. But if I ever wanted anything better, I will probably have to get a profesionaly program.
