This looks like it would be neat to try post retirement but I am not a big fan of long Jet Trips so might look at this with maybe a stopover in Costa Rica or something. I would never blow three weeks of vacation on a single trip while I am still working (though unpaid leave is an option). I think to be paced right this would need to be close to a three week long trip with the stopover included. Not sure if I will go to Europe again but if I do…will be via a stopover in Iceland (want to see that country).

This trip looks very interesting. Another trip in the Andes was an episode of “Mighty Trains” in Ecuador. Unfortunately, I’m getting too old to think about trips like this.

There’s something to be said for the way Belmond builds and runs its trains.
I note they make a thing out of ‘slow travel’ not just at night, CZ-style, but to enjoy the aesthetics of their interiors.
The one problem is… the amount of disposable income needing to be disposed. Since 2019 this would be at LVMH levels, in case you thought the Rocky Mountaineer was expensive.
One thing for sure: you won’t forget it…

Did the Rocky Mountaineer already, round trip, not really expensive.
The one trip I could never understand is Fogo Island Inn in Canada. I can’t see paying that nightly rate for a hotel that is in the middle of nowhere with not much of a view. They do good business though based on what I hear.

CMStPnP: Icelandair is ok. Their Saga Premium is their version of Business. 2-2 seating but not as nice as BA or LH, etc. but reasonable prices. And Iceland is worthwhile in summer.
