Pest controll

Thinking of setting one of those bug spray bombs off in the train room. Had our pest control service spray last month for small spiders and one black widow that migrated from outside, and now seeing a very small spiders every now and again.

Need to find out if the bug spray bombs leave a residue, [8)]

I use geodesic foam scenery over screen wire mesh, Thinking the gap between them would be problem if I let this problem get out of hand…
Would like to hear how you guys handel the insect problem.[?] Thanks…John

I have used Four Gone over the years with no problem, but I do not set it off right next to the layout, and the first couple of times I draped sheets over the whole thing just as insurance. It did kill the bugs.

Have you tried something less drastic, like ant spray around the entire perimeter of the room at floor level? I’ve found that works pretty well for crawling insects.

I gave up trying to train the spiders to run my power lines so I have used the bombs several times and haven’t had any problems with residue. I usually do this every couple of months. I don’t set them on the layout, but at a distance that would prevent heavy fallout from the mist. Make sure you check the label to see if it says, “…will not leave oily residue on furniture.” Also, open up the areas covered by the layout skirts and any other places that you can.

I have used those bombs. We’ve only needed to do it once, but you should check all along your sill-plate, and hour drier outlet for gaps. Otherwise, you’ll be doing it every few weeks this time of year.

Our basement was overrun with crickets. It was a jungle, and a nightmare! The bombs I used had a little canister that is set in 1/2" of water in a plastic cup that comes with it. (you’ll need two in a harge basement, but only two. They will begn to emit smoke within a few seconds, and you should be gone when that happens. I stayed away for several hours. Do it on a Sat/Sun morning before you leave to shop, or go to church and brunch. You’ll win back your house. By the way, every creature lays eggs, so unless it specifically is designed to leave an active residue, those eggs will hatch in about 8 days, and …get even!

Glad to see I’m not the only one with this problem.I tried training the spiders to spin 1/87
scale webs but their stuck 1:1 scale ways. Anybody try that Ortho home defence barrier chemical? I went caulk crazy and sealed everything, but I still have to spend 1/2 hour de-webbing my layout every day.
