Pet peeve

I always liked the way the front end of the car would bend up at the end of a jump and then in the next scene, looked like a brand new car… Hmmmmmm!

Probably both and a whole lot more… I’m sure that was the point…

I saw James Bond do that trick at least once. [swg]

I think the bit in Airplane was most likely intentional - Airplane 2 had the “space shuttle” being jump-started from a mechanic’s car!

My favourite would have to be the 2001 version of “Murder on the Orient Express” - they had very audible grade crossing bells on a train supposedly travelling in the UK - we don’t have bells on level crossings! They also used an EWS (British freight operator) diesel loco on a train supposedly running in Istanbul…

I remember Knight Rider pulling that same stunt on more than one occasion. My Favorite from DOH was a flat landing that obviously broke every single axle on the car, a second later it was tearing along at full speed, again.

Anyone ever watch Last Action Hero? There’s a scene where Arnold fires several rounds into the back of a taxi in the “real world.” He then exclaims “Taxis are armored in New York!?” That movie tried to have some fun with a lot of Hollywood cliches.

Wednesday night the television show (in the US) “Criminal Minds” had a hostage taking on a train in Texas that was headed into Dallas. The train was being pulled by a PA. How many of those are still in service?

Probably the worst of any on a consistant basis is the “History Channel” they use the same stockshots in many of their “documentaries” . On several they were decrying the demise of the American Passenger Train, then showing a black and white runpast of a BRITISH passenger train.
