Phosphate Service Trains?

I hear a lot about phosphate trains and I see a few of them come through every once in a while. I would like to model one (CSX) and need help. What type of covered hoppers do they usually use? Any photos? Generally, how long are the trains? Any specific weathering patterns? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve seen a photo of a CSX 40’ phosphate gondola,as a matter of fact the only one I’ve ever seen.ACL and SCL had forty foot covered hoppers, they kinda look to be cut down some what…Patrick

Heres a link with one pic of a SCL phosphate gondola.

It’s funny you mention that hopper…I just saved that photo before I saw your link! But what I’m referring to are the more general phosphate trains…y’know, 3 bay covered hoppers(I think) and other covered hoppers. I know about all the local stuff in Florida with open hoppers…

Heres alink to a guy that cast resin phosphate hoppers.I don’t know if he still does or not,but it wouldn’t hurt to ask by e-mail.
