Photo: CSXT SD80MAC 4601 Still in Conrail Livery

Hi All,

Here is a shot of a clean CSXT 4601 on Q227-27 at New London OH, I believe this is one of just three that is still in Conrail paint.

Terrific shot. I still say I prefer the first 4601 who sadly was retired a few years back.

great shot. whats is the side track with the gondola used for?

oh yeah and i think i saw that train in marion on the same day!

It looks like a set off track. There is most likely a defect detector around and the set off track is for any car with issues.

Actually the detector is just west of this location so I’m not sure if that is what it’s for or if it is just a MOW siding.

Kevin, I know what you mean about the road number but seeing that it went to an 80MAC, all is not lost.

Answer: That is the Adams Stub

and…the other single track is the off of our No.1 main is the WLE

Thanks for the information.

Nice shot, it doesn’t surprise me that it is still in original paint. From what I understand these units are pretty much outcasts and therefore probably not a priority for new paint.

It is for me. It is very rare for a SD80MAC to be in Georgia. I have probably seen one or two in the past two years. I have seen more SD40’s in that span including the past couple of trips 4617 has made. Feels not so good thinking about it.
