Photo Essay of a VO 1000 (lots of pic links)

I visited the Indiana Transportation Museum today. It’s right up the road from my house, so I have the ability to go there pretty regularly. Some of the pics are a little dark because today was very overcast with on and off rain, but they’re not too bad.

OK, on with the pics!

I’ll start at the front right corner and work my way to the back, going along the bottom first. Then I’ll go back to the front and work my way back along the top. I’ll do the same for the other side, then we’ll go in the cab, OK?

The pics are pretty good size, so be warned if you have a slower connection.

Do you mind if I down load so of these photos?

Be my guest. If you have some good photo editing software you can lighten some of the darker ones to see the details better.

Nice pics, pc. I was wondering what the orange extension cord was for. A battery charger, maybe?

You guessed it!

Philip,

Thanks for sharing. The photos are great. I’ve got a Hallmark VO1000 tucked away with hopes of turning it into a good model of SP&S #32 someday. These pictures will undoubtedly be useful.

Might I ask what the Builder’s number is for this locomotive? You may have photographed the builders plate, but I don’t have time to search your plentiful supply of shots right now.

Also, I’ve got dial-up; and the photos come through in just a few seconds. Your caution was thoughtful but unnecessary.

Great work, Ed

Hi Ed,

I tried to get the builders plate but the pics wouldn’t come out. Darn! I’ll have to go back on a sunny day! Oh well, the things we must endure!

I have visited this museum in the past and it is great. Do they have the steam engine running again? A number of years back my family went on a ride behind the steam engine, then when they got to Atlanta, IN, they drove the engine out of town and did a drive by for everyone. The sound of that steam engine was just fantastic. I know they had to rebuild the boiler, but I haven’t heard if its running again.

John

Great pictures, can you do this for a Central Jersey RS-1 and their VO1000 please?

Only kidding this gives some great details for the VO1000 in general.
